Restaurants
Eating out is part of any Italian holiday. Around Imperia there are restaurants to suit every taste and purse. Some close, others open, but here are just a few tips:
Ristorante La Foce ... non solo Vino
A small family restaurant offering a choice selection of superb food, excellent wines and a very friendly atmosphere.Price category is middle – and stands very well in relation to the quality of food.
Via Bossi, 44 (by the bridge between Borgo Foce and Borgo Prino).
Tel: 0183 651 523. Closed Sundays.
Ristorante Lucio
We love coming to this fish restaurant: the freshest of fish, the friendliest service and comfortable surroundings.Price category is middle – and stands well in relation to the quality of food.
The restaurant is at the western end of the Borgo Prino promenade. You can park at that end or enjoy the ten-minute walk along the sea front from Borgo Foce.
Tel. 0183 652 523
L'Ambarandan
A friendly neighbourhood pizzeria and restaurant in the centre of Porto Maurizio. Apart from the pizze from the wood-fired oven, the fritto misto (mixed fried fish) and the pasta dishes can be highly recommended.Excellent quality at very reasonable prices.
Via Mazzini 16/18. Closed Mondays.
Tel: 0183 666 406 - Mob: 333 431 2254.
Pizzeria U Fügu Acesu (Pizzeria Lighted Fire)
This is the local pizzeria in Caramagna. Quality can vary but we have usually enjoyed tasty, generous and economically-priced pizze served direct from the wood-fired oven. Just 15 minutes by foot from our house, of course you can also reach it by car: in Caramagna turn left towards Imperia, then take the first small road to the right. After 200 m take the first street to the left and the pizzeria is there on your left.La Baita
A country-style restaurant in the hill village of Gazzo d'Arroscia – the wonderful food makes the hour's drive well worth while. There are two fixed menus, one in the summer, one in the winter. Both menus glory in the wild fungi and snails of the local woods and regional lamb or pork grilled at the open fire. Excellent food – all 16 courses! The last time we ate there we paid about €40 including wine.
Tel. 0183 31083
Open Thursdays to Mondays.
