Renovation

Mid-May.
Work has proceeded quickly. The walls have been laid bare and the old roof removed.
However, progress can be revealing ...

The interior stairs, leading to what will be the upper floor, where ...

... now we see that the renovation work 11 years before had failed to renew the rotten roof timbers above the half of the house we bought then!
This means we shall have to build the complete roof, rather than only the newly-bought half.
This means not just the cost, but also an additional week's work.

This was what was holding up our roof.

A day later and the bedroom ceilings have already been installed.

A week later and the new roof frame is ready ...

... and the tiles are on.

The new wall supporting the drive from the road is complete. Soon it will have a surface!
