Rail

Imperia currently has two stations: Imperia PM in Porto Maurizio, about 5 km from the house; and Imperia Oneglia, about 8 km away.
Different express trains stop at both or just one of the stations.

From the north, train connections are via Milan and Genoa, or through France and Ventimiglia. There are also night trains with sleeper wagons.

Due to the re-routing of the entire coastal railway line further into the hills, the two stations will soon be replaced by a new one in Oneglia, currently under construction. It would be foolhardy to predict when this project will be finished – perhaps by the end of the decade.

Air

The nearest airports are Genoa and Nice, both about an hour's drive away. Turin airport is also a possibility.

Genoa: the airport is quite near the Principe railway station and there are plenty of trains to Imperia.

Nice: a bus travels twice a day between Nice and Genoa, stopping in Imperia.
