Olive groves
Behind Cantalupo the olive groves stretch up through the foothills. On centuries-old terraces, the trees can also grow to a great age. Many paths lead through the groves, enticing the walker.
From our house, you do not need a car: just walk through the village, up behind the church and wander where you will.
The harvest is in winter. Nets are spread under the trees to collect the olives.
Ask our neighbour Renato, whether you can buy some of his oil.
And in the spring, wild asparagus grows everywhere. Delicious!
The Museo dell'Olivo
in Oneglia is extremely interesting on the history of olive cultivation. The exhibition, which takes about an hour to walk around, is free. The museum shop also sells attractive souvenirs and olive products.
