Imperia
Imperia consists of two towns, Porto Maurizio and Oneglia, which lie adjacent on the coast. In 1923 they were united under the name of Imperia. The photo shows Porto Maurizio, the part closer to Cantalupo, just 3.5 km away.
Built on a rocky promontory, Porto Maurizio is a picturesque old town.
Here the town is seen from the coast, showing the Parasio. Beneath the Parasio is one of our favourite beaches, Borgo Foce. West from there, just a few minutes' walk, is another beach, Borgo Prino, with several bars and restaurants - ideal for an evening passeggiata and aperitivo.
The architecture of the eastern town, Oneglia, is more influenced by the baroque: the arcades around the Piazza Dante are particularly fine.
